MedInformatix Helps Pueblo Medical Imaging Expand; Practice Nearly Tripled Since Start of Relationship [TOP]

Practice Obtains MU Incentives with Some Help from its Longtime Technology Partner

MedInformatix, an innovator in radiology information systems (RIS) and electronic health records (EHR), and an established technology brand known for providing real-time real-impact data and workflow EHR solutions to the healthcare industry, is helping deliver new levels of EHR efficiency to Pueblo Medical Imaging, one of the fastest growing diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology service providers in the populous Las Vegas region.

"I have been a fan of the MedInformatix solution for quite some time," said Darren Blanford, Administrator of Pueblo Medical Imaging. "I have used their RIS in previous practices and when I came here six years ago I knew I wanted to partner with them at Pueblo. Their product, backed by a hands-on and knowledgeable customer service team gives me the tools and the peace of mind to operate a fast-growing radiology practice like Pueblo. MedInformatix listens. If there is a way to make the solution better or adjust to a certain aspect of our practice, they make it happen for us. I just haven't found that type of side-by-side collaboration from other RIS partners I have worked with."

Pueblo is a private practice, multi-specialty radiology provider owned and operated by Radiology Associates of Nevada, working with some of Las Vegas's top physicians and acute care facilities, operating out of 4 regional hospitals and outpatient facilities around the Las Vegas Valley. The Pueblo team includes more than 20 board-certified radiologists, backed by skilled technologists and administrative personnel. The practice offers a comprehensive schedule of MRI, CT, ultrasound, mammography/bone density, breast, fluoroscopy and digital x-ray services.

Pueblo first installed MedInformatix V7.5 in 2006. At the time, the practice was seeing approximately 24,000 outpatient visitors. Initially, the practice was not using the complete functionality of the MedInformatix system but, over time, they have added advanced billing and reporting features to help accommodate the more than 90,000 outpatients currently processed through their practice each year. Pueblo is currently in the process of upgrading its RIS to V7.6, certified for Stage 2 of meaningful use, which MedInformatix made available earlier this year as one of the industry's comprehensive and technologically-advanced RIS solutions on the market.

Hartsdale Imaging and Advanced Data Systems: Forefront of Automation Technology for 20+ Years [TOP]

Practice Obtains MU Incentives with Some Help from its Longtime Technology Partner

Hartsdale Imaging (HI) in Hartsdale, NY has five fellowship-trained, board-certified radiologists combining both interventional and a full array of conventional multi-modality procedures.

Maintaining its tradition of innovation, forward-thinking HI became part of the first wave of imaging centers to tackle the challenges of MU for radiology in order to obtain Medicare incentives. However, a specific MU challenge was that the practice handled both patient encounters and standard radiology visits.

Fortunately, HI did not have to look any further than its own "backyard" where ADS technology had been helping the practice hum with efficiency for more than twenty years. ADS systems used include MedicsRIS and MedicsPremier for radiology PM.

Joseph Casoria, HI's Practice Administrator noted that ADS worked closely with HI's staff in mapping out a strategy that would most efficiently enable MU compliance with a minimum of interruption to existing workflows.

Boosting Your Imaging Center's Revenue: a solution specifically designed to handle the unique needs of Radiology [TOP]

Radiology practices implementing medQ's fully certified Meaningful Use Q/ris 3000 EHR have collectively qualified for more than $1.2M in payment from the federal government. In this case study, we will highlight two organizations that are seeing a substantial financial gain utilizing medQ's EHR solution. This is a solution specifically designed to handle the unique needs of Radiology.

Dr. Jill Hast, M.D., has more than 20 years of experience in radiology, reading studies on various RIS and PACS systems throughout her career. Dr. Hast notes that of all the systems she's ever worked with, "medQ's Q/ris 3000 is hands down the best system I've ever used!"

Implementing a new radiology based workflow technology can often create disruption to an organization's day-to-day operations. For example, at a full-service, multi-modality medical imaging facility in the Midwest, the director of operations explained that, "we were waiting on the official word for radiology to be mandated. Once it was, they decided to move forward with purchasing a fully certified RIS with EHR." However, the Midwest facility proceeded with some trepidation.

MedInformatix RIS Advances Carolina Regional Radiology's Progress in Meeting Meaningful Use Objectives [TOP]

Using the MedInformatix Radiology Information System (RIS), Carolina Regional Radiology (CRR), a full-service imaging and interventional radiology practice serving a 10-county region, has begun collecting and tracking a year's worth of patient health data for the federal Stage 1 Meaningful Use effort.

The MedInformatix RIS with EHR Version 7.5 facilitates electronic health data-gathering, a key health information technology goal sought in the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Radiologists who began using certified technology to comply with Meaningful Use objectives in 2012 are eligible to receive up to $44,000 over five years. The MedInformatix RIS is certified by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the National Coordinator - Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB).

CRR expects to receive incentive bonuses from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services this year after 18 radiologists collected patient data over 90 days in 2012 during the initial phase of the program.

Seattle Radiologists Utilizes MedInformatix EMR and RIS Solutions to Earn First Meaningful Use Certified Incentives in Washington State [TOP]

Seattle Radiologists, a multi-facility imaging practice located in Seattle, Washington, is the first radiology practice in Washington state and the second in the United States to earn incentive payments given by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the National Coordinator - Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) for demonstrating meaningful use. MedInformatix Version 7.5 was one of the earliest RIS systems to successfully attest and become certified to meet Stage 1 Meaningful Use requirements under the American Recovery and Reinvestment act (ARRA). Seattle Radiologists will now begin to receive incentive payments of up to $44,000 per qualified radiologist spread over the next five years.

In 2011, Seattle Radiologists considered upgrading their previous RIS vendor to a web-based version, but decided to look to the future and investigate an integrated RIS and EHR service, instead of a modular solution. At the time, MedInformatix was one of the only ONC-ATCB certified RIS vendors in the marketplace, and it also offered an integrated complete EHR package. Certifications are managed by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT), an independent nonprofit that reviews EHR solutions based upon functionality, interoperability, and security criteria.

The practice went live with MedInformatix in August of 2011. In order to improve care quality and eliminate break points, the practice went from 760 steps in the workflow process to 50 percent less while implementing MedInformatix. The practice found a 95 percent reduction in paperwork after the MedInformatix implementation was completed. Process optimization realized through MedInformatix implementation and other integrated efficiencies that incorporated The Toyota Production System (Lean) principles will allow the practice to take on more patients and expand its referral network without requiring additional resources.
